まだ公式発表はされていませんが、先日MAXWELLVer1.6が届きました。
今回はいくつかの追加機能の中の、レンダリングの部分に注目してみます。
まず、SKY DOOMに sunが付きました。
今までは太陽光を使うにはPhysicalを選ぶしかなったのですが、このsunにチェックをすると手軽に太陽光を表現できます。

このとき注意しなければならいのが、建物の向き。
太陽が当たる面を正面にしたい場合、建物正面をPLANで見て左むきに配置します。
次に、3ds MaxのDaylightが使用できるようになりました。
Daylightを配置後、physicalのUse 3ds Max Daylightを選び配置したライトを選択。

注意する点としてDaylight設定内は手動による配置は使用できません。
場所時間を設定しましょう。
最後にAutodesk Visualization Contest 2007で受賞した作品にも使用した手法、HDRIの画像データが8点付いていました。
その中の一点radskyを使用してレンダリング。

HDRI画像がある場所は、インストールしたNext Limitフォルダのhdriというフォルダ内にあります。
